Mechanic sentenced to 3-month jail term for stealing drum hubs


A Senior magistrate court 32 Gyadi Gyadi, Kano, has sentenced a 20-year-old mechanic, Mohammed Ibrahim, to three months imprisonment for stealing two drum hubs at Aseja filling station.
The court also sentenced his accomplice in the crime, Abba Umar of Unguwa Uku to one month behind bars for receiving stolen property. The offences are contrary to sections 286 and 317 of the Penal Code Law respectively.
The prosecutor, ASP Sani Musa told the court that the first crime was committed last Thursday, December 14th at 1:15pm when Ibrahim, a resident of Hotoro quarters went to the filling station along western by-pass and carted away with the two drum hubs.
He said one Aliyu Mohammed Usman reported the case at Mariri police station from where the case was taken to court.
While reading the charge sheet, ASP Musa told the court that Ibrahim had confessed to the police during investigation that he had earlier stolen one drum and a tube cylinder and sold same to Umar at the rate of N5, 500.
The two accused persons pleaded guilty of the charges leveled against them and the presiding judge, Senior Magistrate Rahama Mu’azu sentenced the first accused person to three months imprisonment with option of N10, 000 fine, while the second accused person to one month or pay N5000 fine.
She ordered that all the stolen items recovered from the accused persons be returned to the complainant.‎
